COVID-19 Safety Message: Visit our practice with confidence – your safety is our top concern.
We’ve reopened in accordance with CDC, O.S.H.A., and State Dental Board guidelines to responsibly resume seeing our patients for regular dental appointments and treatment. We want to assure you of the measures we take to maintain a clean and safe environment so you can continue to receive needed dental care without fear or concern.
Periodontal pockets are the spaces between your teeth and gums that become the repository for bacteria that remain on the teeth after eating and drinking. When the bacteria isn’t removed by brushing and flossing, periodontal disease can be the result and your gums can become inflamed, tender, and infected. In extreme cases, you can lose your teeth to periodontal disease, and you can experience other health problems, as well.
Until recently, periodontal disease has been treated through surgical intervention. This procedure was invasive, and it left open incisions that could become infected. However, an innovative technique called Perio Protect® can now remove periodontal build-up without invasive surgery. Call our Philadelphia office for more information on getting Perio Protect.
Is the Perio Protect Procedure New?
The Perio Protect procedure is relatively new and many dentists are unaware of it. A Perio treatment is a great alternative to an invasive surgical technique and it doesn’t require removal of gum tissue. The Perio procedure uses trays that are similar to whitening trays to deliver a 1.7 percent solution of hydrogen peroxide to eliminate the plaque build-up on teeth and eliminate the inflammation and discomfort of periodontal disease.
Many Perio Protect reviews have indicated that the breath is fresher, the mouth feels cleaner, and the teeth are whiter. Since there is currently no cure for periodontal disease, the Perio Protect procedure provides the best method for eliminating plaque build-up and the other adverse side effects of periodontal disease. One reason for the excellent Perio Protect results that patients report is the ease of use for the treatment. The trays enable patients to use the system in the comfort of their own home and on their schedule. Treatment time is usually not more than15 minutes per session, so it’s easy to integrate a treatment session into a busy schedule.
If you’re interested in Perio Protect in Philadelphia, call our office and we’ll be glad to answer your questions. How Much Time Does It Take to Get the Perio Protect Treatment?
Your treatment time will be unique to you and will depend on the severity of your periodontal issues. During your first appointment, your dentist will make an impression of your teeth and it will be sent to our lab to fabricate the trays. Your trays will be custom-fitted to your mouth and the length of your treatment regimen will be specific to your needs. Treatment trays are similar to mouth guards and the peroxide solution is placed in them.
Your treatment frequency will depend on the severity of your periodontal issues, so you may need to wear your trays daily or less frequently. Your dentist will provide you with a treatment schedule, but each treatment will last for 10 to 15 minutes. You may begin to notice improvement quickly, and you should notice an improvement after each treatment session.
