What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is essentially a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. Dental implants are composed of two major steps to fill in the gap and provide uncompromised strength and resiliency, mimicking the function of your natural teeth.

  • First, the root of your missing tooth will be replaced with a titanium post which will hold strongly to your gums and function very similarly to your natural tooth root.
  • Secondly, that titanium post will be capped off with a porcelain crown. Crowns are custom made devices that can be created to match the shape and color tone of your existing teeth.  Because of the custom nature of crowns, you will be fitted with a temporary crown after the implant post is installed. You will then come back to our office for a second visit where your permanent, custom crown will be fitted. Your permanent crown will hold strongly to your implant post, enabling you to chew and bite as you naturally would.
